In the words of Gwyneth Paltrow 'it's what makes life interesting, finding the balance between cigarettes and tofu'

so yes, Bella Hadid having a cig in Cannes while also being a woowoo supplements natural perfume person is not a big deal to me. I quit ten years ago out of vanity rather than any moral imperative, but I still believe life at the mercy of some wellness-girlie/biohacker-bro routine would be far more stressful and miserable than just having the damn smoke once in six months and moving on.

The comments on @best.dressed post and merit post are ICKING ME OUT. Anything that gets fragile wellness warriors so wound up entices me to want to do it just to prove I can live my own life!!!

Merit's customers don't care about a casual glass of wine on their IG but draw the line at lighters lol

The Diet Coke to Marlboro Lights pipeline of the 2000s clearly needs to be studied more. I could legally buy cigarettes as a teenager (still blows my mind) and to this day, whenever I have a stressful day, I am thinking about smoking a Marlboro and drinking a crisp Diet Coke. But you know, cancer, so I only opt for the Diet Coke these days.

I have literally the same coping mechanism lol I would never buy a whole pack though but will certainly bum one

Love the points you made about the aesthetics of mess! It's something I've been thinking about a lot lately, and it's interesting how smoking falls uneasily into our dominant archetypal It girl categories.

everyone wants to be messy until things get messy!!

The bella Hadid hypocrisy on the heels of the Orebella launch is especially crazy

a European cig is a spiritual exercise if you really think about it

Whenever I try on clothes and imagine wearing them in my real life, I imagine myself smoking in them. And I’m not a smoker! I smoked the one-off cigarette in college and bars but never bought a pack. But somehow it’s still ingrained in my psyche that it would make any outfit look cooler. That’s depressing.
